Compassionate Leaders (Ages 4 & Up)
Through awareness exercises, interactive drills, scenarios and games, our age-appropriate classes teach children how to hone their skills in compassion, leadership, self-confidence, control, discipline, etc. Students learn how to breathe deeply to help them respond rather than react when upset and speak to classmates, friends, and family with patience. They practice standing up for themselves in the face of “bullying” by using words constructively. For emergency situations, students learn how to physically protect themselves with deflections and immediately seek help from a safe adult.
Street Safety (4 & Up)
Street Safety classes utilize the wisdom of preventative self-defense, leadership skills and fitness fun to teach students the basics of street smarts in age appropriate, interactive drills and scenarios. Students learn public awareness and alertness, how to use the Buddy System and what emergency steps to take if lost in public. They also learn what to do if a stranger or other adult approaches, talks to and/or makes them feel unsafe. Through calm and positive techniques, this program instills confidence through awareness and empowers kids to trust their instincts, speak up to safe adults and take action when their ‘spider-senses’ are tingling.
Mindfulness Kung Fu (2 ½ & Up)
The purpose of teaching mindfulness is to alleviate stress, build self-confidence, and instill deep compassion for others. Mindfulness offers students the tools to develop awareness of their inner and outer worlds, recognize thoughts as “just thoughts”, understand how emotions manifest in the body, recognize when attention wanders and practice the skills for impulse control. These concepts and practices, combined with the exciting physical fitness drills and games from Kung Fu Moves create a fun, kid-friendly space to connect deeply with the mind and body relationship.
Wing Chun Fitness (2 ½ & Up)
While working in a safe and fun non-contact format, students learn the traditions of Wing Chun through using deflections while training everyday life skills such as focus, teamwork, balance, coordination, memory, etc. Authentic Wing Chun Kung Fu has a rich and vibrant history, originally designed by the Shaolin Nun, Ng Mui, 300 years ago. The style was brought to America by the famous Bruce Lee.
Shaolin Fitness (2 ½ & Up)
This program combines Shaolin Kung Fu animal styles and everyday life skills, like Monkey & Discipline or Focus & Snake, as a fun and creative format to honor the history of Kung Fu. Preschool students learn through imagination play while elementary and up learn through drills and forms such as Ping Kuen from Choy Li Fut & Crane Form. Shaolin Kung Fu is the oldest Chinese martial art, originating in the 5th century. It stems from the Yogi & Philosopher named Bodhidharma, who traveled to China and visited the Shaolin Temple over 1500 year ago.
